Mites 6U & 8U Hockey
What is "Mite" Hockey?
Mite hockey refers to players who are at the 6U and 8U level. 6U is for players 6 years old and younger. 8U is for players 8 years old and younger.
Manitowoc Hockey offers a 6U "Mini-Mite" program that consists of two practices a week. Players at this level do not play games on the weekends. Mini-mite practices occur at the same time as regular mite practices.
Manitowoc Hockey also offers an 8U mite program. Players are placed on teams that are determined by both their age and experience level. Mite teams practice twice a week and play occasional games on the weekends. Mite teams are typically organized as "Blue, White and Red" teams. The Blue team is for the younger less experienced players while the White and Red teams are for older more experienced players.
My Player is Currently In HIP - What Comes Next?
Players in HIP who have learned to skate can usually transition to our mini-mite or mites program, even during the middle of the season. Our goal at these age groups is to allow the kids as much time as possible on the ice to enjoy themselves and grow as young hockey players. If you are currently in HIP and would like to find a way for your child to play more hockey, the mite program is the answer.
